Resumé and a quick bio

Just a quick bio

Born in Salamanca, Spain, in 1981, I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Computer Science at the University of Salamanca (USAL) and then, after a brief spiel working in Madrid as a software developer, I moved to Valladolid to start my Masters Degree at the University of Valladolid (UVa).

I interrupted my studies when a chance to work in Belgium came my way, so I moved to Brussels to work as software developer for Speechware with a 6-month grant. Those 6 months turned into 7 years, and I worked as software developer in multiple companies, with the longest time at Eurofins. That made me realize that I didn’t want to make writing code my career. Even if I like to read code and I’m fascinated by the engineering side of it, I’m more concerned with the user side.

I decided to quit my job and move back to Salamanca to study graphic design online at The Graphic Design School, and then to Berlin, Germany, to pursue a career in graphic design. After two internships, I landed a job at Kiron Open Higher Education, an online educational platform for refugees. There, I started as graphic designer, but my desire to serve the user quickly brought me to UX and product design, and I realized that this is what I want to do.

Non-professional stuff

I’ve always been fascinated by stories.
That’s why I love podcasting and filmmaking. I started self-learning storytelling and I created a podcast with a friend of mine about bearded people (in Spanish).
I’ve also written a few short scripts that I hope to film one day. My objective was to learn every step of a movie production, so I have written scripts, produced, directed and edited a few short films.

This passion for storytelling is something I love to bring to my product design work. I believe that the techniques that I apply to writing a story and telling it to someone can also be applied to the design of a captivating product, tapping into the emotional aspect of design.
